We want our Ewanrigg Junior School scientists to be experimental; to investigate scientific theories with thoroughness and fairness. We want our scientists to be critical, sceptical, take risks and think outside the box. They will have an understanding of famous scientists and how science shapes the world in which we live. We want children to understand how science changes our lives for the better and the role that science plays in positive advancements. We want our scientists to be able to plan, work scientifically and draw conclusions.

We want them to use scientific vocabulary to be able to communicate effectively. During their primary years we want to shape their natural interest and enthusiasm for the world around them, enabling them to become life-long learners.

We want our scientists to be able to make meaningful links between classroom learning and the real world in order to develop their understanding of Science and make their learning memorable through enjoyable, engaging and enriching activities. We want all of our children to grow up questioning the world around them and have the skills to investigate those questions.
