We want our Ewanrigg Junior School Historians to be immersed and excited by their local History, The History of Britain as well as ancient civilizations around the globe. Our Historians will have an understanding of timelines and chronology and be able to place events in their correct time period. We want our Historians to be inquisitive, to investigate historical events, characters and artefacts and to question; why? How? And when things happen?

We want our historians to be detectives, to develop critical thinking skills and question sources of evidence, both primary and secondary. We want our historians to be researchers and develop a broad understanding of historical events and people. We want our Historians to be presenters, to show their understanding in a variety of forms and engage in interesting debate.

We want our historians to be immersed in the period they are studying, to develop an interest and thoughtfulness that inspires independent ressearch. We want our historians to be archaeologists, to study artefacts and ask, what were they for? We want our historians to be interpreters. To compare and contrast the lives of people in the past with the modern day. We want our historians to be sceptical, to think critically and question sources of evidence. To look through peoples worldviews, perspectives and biases to discover the truth.
