We want our Ewanrigg Junior School Engineers to be researchers of products and shrewd evaluators of design and purpose. We want our Ewanrigg Engineers to take risks and innovate in invention. Emulating the best inventors and entrepreneurs Britain has to offer. We want our Ewanrigg Engineers to be considerate of the needs of end users and tailor their designs accordingly. We want our Ewanrigg Engineers to feel confident in the use of a variety of tools and be able to see how mechanisms work to create an excellent end product.

We want our Ewanrigg food technicians to try and taste a wide variety of foods, understand the different tastes and make healthy food choices. We want our Ewanrigg food technicians to be able to design a dish and cook or create it with confidence, knowing that it will taste good and what ingredients to use. We want our children to be able to use knives and utensils confidently. Often this may take place as part of forest school, all children getting the experience of making their own food on an outdoor fire.

We want our Ewanrigg Engineers to feel confident using a variety of methods to design an end product, this may include CAD. We want our children to be able to assess and evaluate their own design, looking at end users’ requirements and critically evaluating their product against this.

We want our Ewanrigg Engineers to take pride in their designs and inventions, to take risks and problem solve and take inspiration from Britain’s great tradition of entrepreneurship to become the inventors of the future.
