Computing Vision
We want our Ewanrigg Junior School computer learners to be creative and explorative in their education. To be able to do this safely, understanding the consequences of being unsafe online. To be able to know how to get help if there is something unsafe online.
We want our computer learners to be confident using a range of programmes. For them to be able to create and edit word, excel and publisher documents and to become proficient in a range of apps. We aim to have our learners navigate the World Wide Web safely and to know the protocols for safe website learning. This will aid their research abilities which in turn helps their subject knowledge across the curriculum. We want them to be able to program and work on coding.
What Computing looks like at EJS
When is Computing taught?
Computing is taught through thematic units, both through Skills Development Tasks and through projects which then apply those skills. The Satellite View maps out which thematic units feature this subject and clearly shows the objectives taught.
How is Computing taught?
Computing is taught through a combination of subject knowledge and skills. At EJS, Computing is taught within register classes to a range of abilities. The children also have their own individual iPads to embed learning throughout the school day using a range of apps and programmes.
